LUSAKA – The Zambia Air Force (ZAF) has held a special intercessory prayer service for peace, unity and a credible electoral process ahead of Zambia’s August 13, 2026 General Elections.
The prayer service was held on Friday evening at the ZAF Chamba Valley Officers’ Mess in Lusaka and was officiated by Zambia Air Force Commander Lieutenant General Oscar Nyoni.
Addressing service personnel and their families, Lt. Gen. Nyoni said national security depends not only on military preparedness but also on faith in God. He urged Zambians to remain united and prayed for peaceful, credible and orderly elections.
The Air Force Commander also called for God’s guidance over the country’s leaders and citizens, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and national unity throughout the electoral period.
Held under the theme, “Resting the Heart and Mind in God’s Peace,” the service reflected on the pressures faced by military personnel and the need for spiritual strength in carrying out their duties.
Delivering the sermon, Acting Director General of Chaplaincy Colonel Reverend Judith Mutale encouraged personnel to seek lasting inner peace through God, noting that worldly peace is only temporary.
The event concluded with intercessory prayers for Zambia’s leadership, peaceful elections before, during and after voting, as well as prayers for the Zambia Air Force chain of command and military families.
The service was attended by Zambia Air Force personnel, civilian staff, members of the Air Power Ladies Club and their families. Gospel musician Ephraim “Son of Africa” and the Zambia Air Force Choir led the worship.
