PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has notified the Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) Chairperson retired Justice Essau Chulu and Vice Chairperson Emily Sikazwe of the expiration of their contracts and non-renewal of tenure.
This is according to a statement issued by Presidential spokesperson Anthony Bwalya.
Mr Bwalya said the President has made the decision in exercise of the power vested in him under Section 4 (3) of the Electoral Commission (Amendment) Act No. 5 of 2019.
"President Hichilema has since thanked the two for their years of service to the Republic of Zambia and wishes them well in their future endeavours," Mr Bwalya said.
