Mandevu MP arrested for inciting people to attack police

 

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) Mandevu Constituency Member of Parliament Christopher Shakafuswa has been charged and arrested for proposing violence in which he incited people to attack police.

The Mandevu Member of Parliament is believed to have on May 3rd proposed violence to people that assembled at the residence of Esther Lungu while police conducted a search.

Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga in a statement said Mr Shakafuswa has since been released on police bond and will appear in court soon.

“Police in Lusaka have formerly charged and arrested Honourable Christopher Shakafuswa Member of Parliament for Mandevu Constituency for the offence of Proposing Violence or Breaches of the law to Assemblies Contrary to Section 91 of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.”

Mr Hamoonga said that brief facts of the matter are that on May 3rd,2023 in Ibex Hill of Lusaka the accused is alleged to have proposed violence to people that had assembled at the residence of Mrs Esther Lungu in Ibex Hill.

He added that the accused further also incited them to attack police officers who were on duty whilst executing a search warrant.
