PF accuses police command of withdrawing state security accorded to former President Edgar Lungu

THE Patriotic Front (PF) has accused the police command of withdrawing state security from former President, Edgar Lungu’s home.

The party has since described the move as a coordinated harassment and attack on the former President.

Speaking at Mr Lungu’s residence last night, PF presidential aspirant Emmanuel Mwamba said the removal of police officers at Mr Lungu’s house is total harassment.

“Our position as a party is that, this is a coordinated harassment and attack of the president. We were alarmed by a statement that all officers have been withdrawn from the former presidents house.

We have word that the officers that came here during the raid on accusations of the former first lady accused the officers that they found here or siding with Mr Lungu and their were threats against them,” he said.

However, Home Affairs Minister Jack Mwiimbu dismissed claims that police have been withdrawn from Mr Lungu’s house.

Mr Mwiimbu said Mr Lungu is still entitled to security and that speculations of police presence being withdraw  is not authentic.

Meanwhile, in a statement police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale also said the former head of State still has State Security.

“The Officers appearing on the message circulating on social media platforms have been withdrawn and deployed to perform other duties elsewhere,” he said.
