PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has called for team work in the implementation of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) projects in the 156 constituencies around the country.
And the President snubbed those condemning his love for graphs and figures saying that they should instead enroll in school and learn about their importance.
Speaking today when he flagged the 156 Land cruisers meant for CDF projects, the Head of State said his government will continue to take steps to develop the country in an equitable manner unlike previously were some United Party for National Development (UPND) constituencies were sidelined.
“Our duty is to deliver service to our people and we must consider this as unity of purpose and we must work together,” he said.
The President said the vehicles will be used to check projects, urging Members of Parliament and all civic leaders to get involved.
“Mayor of Kitwe I want to send a message that we have no time to petty around because in this business we are in today, we are doing it for 20 million Zambians,” he said.
He reiterated the need for team work adding that government does not want to see any constituency being left out on account that their leader do not want to work with government.
“Let’s work together, ‘ifi fimbi ifyashala bunang’ani’, these vehicles are supposed to help the implementation of CDF. These vehicles are not personal to holder vehicles. If we find these vehicles parked at a girlfriend’s or boyfriend’s house in the night ‘numulandu’, ” he said.
President Hichilema also urged traditional leaders, the youth and women to be the eyes of the vehicles.
Meanwhile, President Hichilema said government want to bring back the dignity of traditional leaders and that this year alone, it plans to build 110 palaces countrywide.
He urged them to take keen interest in monitoring the projects time to time.
“Traditional leaders find time to visit sites where works are being done by contractors and if they are not being done well, report and action will be taken,” he said.
He warned that any person who will be found wanting in the implementation of CDF projects will be dealt with accordingly.
And the Head of State took a jab at critics of the use of graphs and number urging them to educate themselves.
“Someone was talking about graphs. If you fear numbers and graphs ,there is free education, we can send you back to school so you can learn some more. If you are scared of graphs go and sleep ” he said amidst cheers from people.
