RICHARD MUSUKWA SAYS GOVERNMENT AT LIBERTY TO GIVE KCM BACK TO VEDANTA

By Balewa Zyuulu
Former Mines and Minerals Development Minister Richard Musukwa says the government is at liberty to bring an investor of its choice including Indian investor Vedanta Mineral Resources to run dormant Konkola Copper Mines -KCM.
The government through ZCCM-IH is currently settling the disputed ownership of KCM with the legal owner Vedanta after the two parties opted for an out of court settlement.
Commenting on this development, Mr Musukwa says the government must expedite the process of finding an equity partner for Konkola Copper Mines as the continued delay is not only hurting the people on the Copperbelt but the economy of the country.
He says the smooth operations of KCM are in the interest of all Zambians and the sooner government resolves the issues surrounding the mining sector, the better for the country.
