POOR WORKING CULTURE AMONG NDOLA CITY COUNCIL WORKERS FRUSTRATING GOVT EFFORTS OF TAKING DEVELOPMENT TO PEOPLE-NDOLA MAYOR

By Nonhlanhla Phuti

Ndola Mayor Jones Kalyati has bemoaned the poor working culture by workers at Ndola City Council, which he says is frustrating government efforts of taking development to the people.

In an interview with Phoenix News, Mr. Kalyati has complained that he adopted a group of civil servants who have a very poor and bad working culture and are failing to deliver according to people’s expectations.

Mr Kalyati is concerned that when civil servants fail to deliver to people’s expectations, they are simply frustrating efforts being made by the head of state and government as a whole.

He states that Ndola City Council has the capacity to perform fully and change the face of the city but that work is being derailed mainly by the laissez-faire attitude of council workers.

The Ndola Mayor has since called on Local Government and Rural Development Minister Gary Nkombo to urgently intervene in the matter and help resolve the challenge the local authority is facing.
