Police in Lusaka have formally charged and arrested Forum for Democracy and Development-FDD- President Edith Nawakwi for the offence of abduction contrary to section 253 and 256 chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Facts of the offence are that Ms. Nawakwi, while acting together with others unknown, is alleged to have forced Pheluna Hatembo and Milton Hatembo into confinement against their will at different lodges in Lusaka after deceiving them that she was going to help them.
Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Danny Mwale says the suspect asked Mr. and Mrs. Hatembo to travel to Lusaka from Choma and that during the time of their confinement, the victims were not allowed to move, communicate with anyone and do anything without her authority.
Mr. Mwale says the suspect has been released on police bond pending court appearance.
