DISTRICT EDUCATION STANDARDS OFFICER ARRESTED FOR CORRUPTION INVOLVING OVER K100,000




A District Education Standards Officer based in Masaiti has been arrested for corruption involving more than K166,000.


Richman Ndhlovu aged 53 of house number D7 Kamirenda of Luanshya committed the offence as a Head Teacher at Masaiti Boarding and Mushili Secondary School.


He has since been charged with Wilful Failure to Comply with Applicable Procedure.


Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Head Corporate Communications Timothy Moono said the incident occurred between January 1st, 2016 and December 31st, 2016 in Masaiti district.


"The Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested and charged Masaiti District Education Standards Officer Richman Ndhlovu for corruption involving more than K166,000.00."


"Richman Ndhlovu, 53, of house number D7 Kamirenda in Luanshya, has been charged with one (1) count of Willful Failure to Comply with Applicable Procedure contrary to Section 34 (2) (b) as read with Section 41 of the Anti-Corruption Act No. 3 of 2012," he said. 


He said details of the offence are that, Richman Ndhlovu on dates unknown ,but between January 1st, 2016 and December 31st, 2016 in Masaiti District, being a Public Officer namely Headteacher at Masaiti Boarding Secondary School and Mushili Secondary School.


"He did willfully fail to follow applicable procedure when he authorized the procurement of payments of a sum of K166,685.00, a matter or transactions involving the Ministry of Education, a public body. Mr Ndhlovu has since been released on bond and will appear before court soon," he said.
