TIZ ADVOCATES FOR GENDER INTEGRATION IN ANTI-CORRUPTION STRATEGIES

Transparency International Zambia –TIZ- is advocating for the integration of gender into anti-corruption strategies to address the specific challenges faced by women and girls in the country.
TIZ Executive Director Maurice Nyambe says despite recent policy and legal changes aimed at promoting gender equality in Zambia, the assessments on the status of gender mainstreaming have largely overlooked its role in combating corruption.
Mr Nyambe says reports such as the gender status report and the parliamentary committee report on gender mainstreaming activities have failed to address the intersection of gender and corruption.
Mr Nyambe firmly believes that interventions in the fight against corruption in Zambia must incorporate a gender perspective to effectively address the unique challenges faced by women and girls.
He explains that by integrating gender considerations into anti-corruption strategies, TIZ aims to ensure that these efforts are inclusive and responsive to the needs of all members of society.
