CURRENT SITUATION AT THE PASSPORT OFFICE

The Ministry of Home Affairs and Internal Security would like to update the general public on the current situation at the Passport Office regarding processing and production of passport booklets.

Not too long ago, some members of the general public who submitted application forms for passport acquisition complained of delayed issuance of the passport booklets. The Ministry acknowledged the complaints as genuine. This was largely attributed to low stock levels of the booklets which were reserved for emergency cases such as those seeking medical attention abroad, scholarships and other cases that the passport office viewed exceptional.

In the quest to deliver high quality services with efficiency, the ministry ordered a huge number of passport booklets which we received in the month of April 2024.

Am glad to inform the nation that all previous passport applications have been processed, printed and produced for individual applicants to collect. As things stand now, we are current. There is no backlog at all.

My ministry remains committed to serving the general public with integrity and fairness.

Hon. Jack J. Mwiimbu SC. MP.
