NATIONAL ASSEMBLY PRESIDING OFFICERS CHALLENGED TO ENSURE HIGH LEVELS OF DISCIPLINE AMONG MPS

As Parliament resumes sitting next week, Vice President Mutale Nalumango has challenged National Assembly Presiding Officers to ensure high levels of discipline among parliamentarians is upheld during all parliament proceedings.
Speaking during a training workshop for National Assembly Presiding Officers In Lusaka this morning, Mrs Nalumango said discipline in parliament is important as it helps to address national matters with accorded and equal opportunities to all members.
Mrs. Nalumango says her office will ensure a coherent legislative framework is put in place through the national assembly, with the aim of creating a conducive governance environment which is important for national development.
She has however noted that such a legal framework can only be effectively put in place if government business is conducted smoothly on the floor of the house, which in turn will have an overall positive impact on government policy direction and delivery of service to the people.
At the same event, Clerk of the National Assembly Roy Ngulube expressed confidence that the training of presiding officers will enhance parliamentary democracy, maintain order and peace in the national assembly.
