SEAN TEMBO READY TO MEET LEVY NGOMA IN COURT OVER DEFAMATION CASE CONCERNING ABDUCTION OF PETAUKE MP

Opposition Patriots for Economic Progress -PEP- leader Sean Tembo says he is ready to face President Hakainde Hichilema’s Political Advisor Levy Ngoma in court over the defamation case filed by Mr. Ngoma involving the abduction of Petauke Central Member Emmanuel Banda.

In a joint action taken together with UPND Deputy National Youth Chairperson for Politics and Mobilization Trevor Mwiinde yesterday, Mr. Ngoma filed a complaint in the court demanding K5 million in damages from Petauke Member of Parliament Emmanuel Banda, National Democratic Congress Leader Saboi Imboela and PEP leader Sean Tembo for libelous and defamatory statements made against him that he was involved in the abduction of the of the Petauke Lawmaker.

In response to the lawsuit, Mr. Tembo says the statement which he made is neither false nor defamatory because it is a fact that Mr. Banda’s lawyer Sakwiba Sikota has publicly stated on numerous occasions that the Petauke MP named Mr. Ngoma and two others as his abductors, when police interrogated him in the presence of his lawyer.

Mr. Tembo says Mr. Ngoma is therefore not entitled to K5 million compensation as he was never defamed, adding that he looks forward to meeting him and his lawyers in court to vigorously challenge their frivolous claim.

He has since demanded that the Zambia Police immediately arrest the 3 suspected abductors and subject them to an identification parade so that the abduction victim can formally identify them because a victim's testimony in an abduction case is the strongest form of evidence that can ever be adduced.
