GOVERNMENT COMMENDS JAPAN ON CONTINUED COOPERATION ON ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION



The Zambian Government has praised the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for its ongoing support in Zambia's priority sectors. Dr. Tobias Mulimbika, Zambia's Ambassador to Japan, highlighted JICA’s continued cooperation in key areas such as agriculture, health, water, sanitation, and infrastructure during a courtesy call on JICA Executive Vice President Katsura Miyazaki in Tokyo. Dr. Mulimbika also expressed gratitude for JICA President Dr. Tanaka Akihiko's recent visit to Zambia and the fruitful discussions with President Hakainde Hichilema.


Dr. Mulimbika emphasized the Zambian government's eagerness to implement development programs and its commitment to strengthening the relations between the two countries following the meeting with the head of state. He also praised JICA for their collaboration with the Zambian Embassy in developing a checklist of prioritized projects for Zambia.


Furthermore, Dr. Mulimbika underscored the importance of a consolidated checklist of projects, such as infrastructure, technology advancements, health, energy, agriculture, water harvesting, irrigation, and the revival of the Iron and Steel economic zone in Kafue.


JICA Executive Vice President Katsura Miyazaki reiterated JICA’s support to Zambia’s economic agenda and emphasized Japan's recognition of Zambia as a key development partner, evident from recent high-profile visits to Zambia.
