BRIAN MUNDUBILE COUNTERS PRESIDENT HICHILEMA’S ‘THIEF’ TAG
By Patricia Mbewe
Tonse Pamodzi Alliance Presidential Candidate Brian Mundubile says he and his running mate Makebi Zulu are not thieves, but leaders with a proven record of delivering infrastructure.
Reacting to remarks by President Hakainde Hichilema that the two are thieves, during the launch of the UPND 2026 presidential campaign in Lusaka yesterday, Mr. Mundubile said the development the duo recorded as provincial ministers shows what they are capable of delivering when elected to lead the country.
Speaking to journalists at Yusuf Catholic Radio in Mpika this morning, Mr. Mundubile cited the Luangwa-Petauke-Chipata road, Kalindawalo hospital, the STEM school in Petauke, and hospitals across the province as some of the achievements made during Mr. Zulu’s tenure as eastern province minister.
He also mentioned new hospitals and a secondary school in Chilubi district and the rest of Northern province as achievements recorded under his watch, adding that the alliance will now leave it to Zambians to judge who the thieves are.
And Tonse Alliance running mate Makebi Zulu has criticized government for prioritizing the kwacha’s performance over paying contractors and supporting farmers, stating that contractors on the Mpika township roads, Mpika-Kasama road, and Matumbo-Chama-Lundazi road have not been paid for five years.
And Mr. Zulu has pledged that the alliance will set up a development bank, an agricultural bank, and banks for women and youths with favourable terms once voted into office.
