VICE PRESIDENT URGES ZAMBIANS TO RENEW UPND MANDATE TO REAP BENEFITS OF ECONOMIC RECOVERY

Vice President Mutale Nalumango is urging Zambians to give the ruling UPND another mandate, saying the next five years will deliver the benefits of the country’s economic recovery to ordinary citizens.

Speaking when she featured on the Friday’s edition of Let the People Talk Programme on Phoenix FM, Mrs. Nalumango said the UPND's manifesto offers hope and reassurance, noting that the foundation laid during the party's first term has positioned the country for sustained economic growth.

Mrs. Nalumango said while government has undertaken difficult economic reforms, Zambians will begin to experience the positive effects of those measures over the next five years.

She said government is aware of the economic challenges many Zambians continue to face and has tailored its budgets to protect vulnerable households by supporting livelihoods and easing the impact of the country's economic recovery.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Nalumango dismissed claims that the UPND intends to extend the presidential term of office from five to seven years if re-elected.

She says the issue has never been discussed within the party and has never formed part of its agenda.
