Detained ZNBC Journalist MacPherson Mukuka Seeks Immediate Release Through Habeas Corpus

LUSAKA - Detained ZNBC journalist MacPherson Mukuka has filed an application for a writ of habeas corpus in the Lusaka High Court, seeking an order for his immediate release on grounds that his continued detention is unlawful.

According to the application, Mr. Mukuka argues that his prolonged detention is not legally justified and has asked the court to review the legality of his continued custody.

A writ of habeas corpus is a legal remedy through which a court can require authorities to justify the detention of an individual and determine whether the detention complies with the law.

The Lusaka High Court is expected to consider the application and determine whether Mr. Mukuka's continued detention is lawful.
