CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION TO RECRUIT ADDITIONAL 2,600 HEALTH WORKERS THIS YEAR
The Civil Service Commission has announced plans to recruit an additional 2,600 health workers in various categories across the country this year in an effort to address staffing shortages in the public health sector.
Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka this morning, Commission Chairperson Dr. Choolwe Beyani says the recruitment exercise is aimed at strengthening healthcare service delivery by filling existing vacancies in health facilities.
Dr. Beyani says the commission hopes future recruitment numbers will increase as the country's fiscal position continues to improve.
He has announced that recruitment advertisements will be published in newspapers on July 14 and July 16 and will run for three weeks.
Dr. Beyani says eligible applicants will be required to submit their applications through designated post offices addressed to their respective district health offices, while verification of submissions will take place between September 1 and September 11, 2026.
He has clarified that the timing of the recruitment exercise is not linked to the forthcoming elections, explaining that the process was already provided for in the 2026 national budget and that its timing is coincidental.
Meanwhile, Dr. Beyani has indicated that the commission is updating the national health worker recruitment database to include additional professional categories aimed at improving future recruitment processes.
