ECZ DISMISSES ALLEGATIONS OF PRE-MARKED BALLOTS PAPERS AND ILLICIT FUNDING

The Electoral Commission of Zambia -ECZ- has dismissed allegations that pre-marked ballots are being printed in Tanzania as a complete fabrication.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro has reiterated that ballot papers for the 2026 general election are being printed at Al Ghurair printing and publishing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and nowhere else.
In a statement, Mr. Kasaro has explained that the printing process is being witnessed by political party representatives, civil society organizations, law enforcement agencies, and the media.
And Mr. Kasaro has also described as unfounded, claims that private corporate entity GATBRO International is funding illicit electoral activities, stating that the commission’s operations are funded through the state treasury.
He has since urged political actors and members of the public to exercise maximum responsibility and desist from spreading misinformation aimed at undermining the integrity and legitimacy of the electoral process.
