ECZ DISMISSES ALLEGATIONS OF PRINTING EXTRA BALLOT PAPERS IN TANZANIA

The Electoral Commission of Zambia-ECZ-, has dismissed allegations that it has secretly printed extra ballot papers in Tanzania for the August 13, 2026 general election.
ECZ Chief Electoral Officer Brown Kasaro says the claims circulating on a social media are false, malicious and intended to mislead the public and undermine confidence in the electoral process.
In a statement, Mr. Kasaro says contrary to the allegations, all ballot papers for the 2026 general election are being printed exclusively by Al Gurair Printing and Publishing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where the printing process is being witnessed by political party representatives and members of the media to ensure transparency.
He has further disclosed that all ballot papers will be transported by a chartered aircraft directly from Dubai to Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka to which stakeholders will be invited to witness both the arrival and verification of the ballot papers before they are distributed to districts across the country.
Mr. Kasaro has also stressed that no ballot papers for the 2026 general election will enter Zambia by road through any border, dismissing claims that they would be smuggled into the country through Nakonde.
He has since urged political stakeholders and members of the public to disregard the allegations.
