The Energy Regulation Board -ERB- in collaboration with the Drug Enforcement Commission -DEC-led taskforce on fuel smuggling and illegal fuel vending, has secured the conviction of Manyanya Oils Limited, a licensed oil marketing company, along with its Director and Principal Shareholder, Charles Sinkamba and Site Supervisor, Martha Nakamba.

In a joint statement, DEC Public Relations Officer, Theresa Mawere says the convictions were handed down by the Nakonde Magistrates' Court after the accused pleaded guilty to petroleum regulatory offences.

Ms. Mawere explains that the convictions arose from a joint enforcement operation conducted in Nakonde district on 11th March 2026, during which a company-owned unlicensed tanker was intercepted while offloading petroleum products at a Manyanya Oils facility.

She says investigations and laboratory analysis established that the petroleum products did not comply with Zambia’s mandatory fuel-marking requirements and petroleum products that had already been offloaded into the underground storage tank were found to be overmarked by more than 206 percent, while the products that remained in the tanker were completely unmarked, contrary to the Energy Regulation regulations.

Ms. Mawere says the accused persons were jointly charged with the offences of dumping of petroleum products contrary to section 48 of the Energy Regulation and were additionally charged with unlawful possession of unmarked and overmarked petroleum products and sale of non-conforming petroleum products, contrary to section 48 of the Energy Regulation Act No. 12 of 2019.
