President Encourages Unity Through Prayer

LUSAKA - President Hakainde Hichilema has urged members of the Catholic Church and other Christian denominations to continue holding prayer vigils and praying for the nation as Zambia prepares for the August 13 General Election.

President Hichilema said Zambia is a Christian nation not only by constitutional declaration but also through its actions, values and enduring trust in God.

He said continued prayers were important for the country's peace, unity and stability, as well as for all candidates and other stakeholders participating in the electoral process.

President Hichilema said that as the nation prepares to vote, it is important to ensure that the electoral process is not only free and fair but, above all, peaceful.

According to a statement issued to ZNBC News by State House Communications Specialist Clayson Hamasaka, President Hichilema said Zambia's strength has always been rooted in faith, unity and a shared commitment to peace.

He also wished all candidates God's blessings and a safe journey throughout the electoral process.
