LUSAKA - The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has set August 17, 2026, as the date for announcing the presidential election results.
The Commission said more than 8.7 million voters have been certified as eligible to participate in the election.
ECZ Acting Director of Electoral Operations Winner Mwanamoonga said the August 17 date was an administrative decision, while the distribution of ballot papers was expected to be completed by August 7.
Meanwhile, ECZ Chairperson Mwangala Zaloumis has urged political parties, candidates and their supporters to rely on verified information to help combat misinformation and disinformation ahead of the polls.
Ms. Zaloumis said all stakeholders have a responsibility to promote accurate information and protect the integrity of the electoral process.
