KAPIRI MPOSHI – Citizens First (CF) President Harry Kalaba has pledged to transform Kapiri Mposhi into a major driver of Zambia's economic growth through industrialisation, agriculture, youth empowerment and improved infrastructure if elected president.
Speaking during a roadshow in the district, Mr. Kalaba said a Citizens First administration would implement targeted measures aimed at restoring Kapiri Mposhi's historical role as a centre for trade, industry and agriculture.
He said industrialisation would be at the heart of his government's economic agenda, noting that the district's lack of adequate industrial infrastructure has limited employment opportunities and slowed economic development for many years.
Mr. Kalaba pledged that a CF government would establish new industries to create jobs, stimulate investment and boost economic activity across the district.
He also promised to rehabilitate township roads, saying improved road infrastructure is essential for easing the movement of people and goods while supporting business growth.
The Citizens First leader said agriculture would remain a key pillar of the local economy, with additional programmes aimed at empowering women and young people.
He said women would benefit from initiatives designed to increase their participation in business and leadership, while young people would receive skills training, entrepreneurship support and improved access to finance to help them establish and grow businesses.
Mr. Kalaba further pledged to improve market infrastructure and trading conditions for marketers, describing them as an important part of Kapiri Mposhi's local economy.
He said the district's strategic location makes it critical to Zambia's national development and that unlocking its economic potential would benefit the wider economy.
The proposals were outlined in a statement issued by Citizens First Presidential Media Coordinator Bangwe Naviley Chisenga, who said the party's plans form part of a broader vision to build an inclusive economy that creates opportunities across different sectors and communities.
