Monze Town Council has disclosed that the majority of youth and women groups that received Constituency Development Fund –CDF- empowerment last year have failed to account for the money.
Council Secretary, Frank Kalenga has told Phoenix News that this is because some youth and women groups were not honest when acquiring the funds as they presented projects that were nonexistent.
Mr. Kalenga says this came to light following a one month CDF monitoring program that the council had embarked on to ascertain the progress made by the groups in Moomba, Monze Central and Bweengwa constituencies.
He has since noted the need for more sensitization programs to CDF beneficiaries before the next set of groups are empowered this year.
