ASSETS WORTH OVER K756 MILLION SEIZED BY ACC IN 2023



 The Anti-Corruption Commission-ACC- has disclosed that it seized assets worth over K756 million in the course of investigations in 2023.

Addressing the media in Lusaka this morning, ACC Head of Corporate Affairs Timothy Moono says the Commission received a total of 1,037 reports of suspected corruption during the year under review out of which 463 were non-corruption related.
Mr Moono explains that while 574 reports contained elements of corruption, only 541 were authorized for investigations and 183 cases were closed.
He says out of the 183 investigations that were closed, the commission recorded 38 arrests, 17 convictions and 5 acquittals, while a total of 19 motor vehicles were forfeited to the state.
Meanwhile, Mr Moono has assured that progress has been made on investigations of some officials at the ministry of finance and national planning over irregular payments.
