PF CALLS FOR FORMATION OF FORMAL INDEPENDENT INQUIRY INTO PETAUKE MP’S ABDUCTION CASE

Patriotic Front Chairperson for Information and Publicity Emmanuel Mwamba is calling for the constitution of an independent and public inquiry in Petauke Member of Parliament, Emmanuel Jay Banda’s abduction case.

Mr. Mwamba says this is because of the utter deception and clear criminal conduct of the state in Mr. Banda’s case, which has raised serious concerns and requires an independent, fair and objective public inquiry, to be possibly led by a high court or supreme court judge.

He is calling on President Hakainde Hichilema to constitute a formal independent inquiry into Mr. Banda’s case because of the alleged involvement of some state house officials and senior UPND member, as revealed by Mr. Banda during his interrogation by the police.

Mr. Mwamba has told Phoenix News that it is clear with the revelations made by lawyer Sakwiba Sikota during the interrogations that took place last Friday that Mr. Banda revealed the names of his abductors, who include two senior state house officials and a senior UPND official.

He says with this revelation, it is imperative that President Hichilema constitutes an independent inquiry into the abduction of the Petauke lawmaker.

Meanwhile, the Patriots for Economic Progress is demanding for the immediate arrest of Mr. Banda’s named abductors.

PEP President Sean Tembo says his party is alarmed to learn that Mr. Banda named two state house officials and a UPND official and is further alarmed that instead of arresting the named three abductors, the police has instead decided to arrest the victim for an alleged offense relating to an incident that occurred more than 5 years ago, which the courts already dealt with and disposed of.
