UPND DISTANCES SELF FROM MANDEVU MACHETE WELDING ‘THUGS’

By Best Jere

The ruling United Party for National Development (UPND) has distanced itself from thugs that armed themselves with machetes in Lusaka’s Chipata Compound of Mandevu Constituency where the opposition New Heritage Party was stopped from holding a rally.
Reacting to public outcry that cadresm has resurfaced, UPND Deputy Media Director, Cheelo Katambo says the party is founded on the tenets of good governance hence the group is in no way associated with the UPND.
Meanwhile, New Heritage Party President Chishala Kateka, has bemoaned the action by police to block the planned rally as undemocratic, since prior notice was given within the specified procedure.
