TWO EX-TRADE KINGS ACCOUNTANTS JAILED FOR FRAUD INVOLVING MORE THAN K16MILLION

The Economic and Financial Crimes Court has sentenced former Trade Kings Group accountants Leovin Musukwa and Isaac Kamanga to a concurrent total of three years' imprisonment with hard labour after convicting them on 78 of 79 counts related to the theft of more than K16 million from their employer.

‎The Duo was sentenced on June 15. 2026 following a protracted trial in which the State successfully proved that they abused their positions of trust by processing and facilitating fictitious payments, resulting in losses exceeding K16 million to Trade Kings Group.

‎Investigations conducted by the Zambia Police Service further established that part of the proceeds of the crime was used to acquire various properties and other assets.

‎In its judgment, the court found that the prosecution had presented overwhelming documentary, financial and other evidence linking the two former accountants to the fraudulent transactions and the subsequent acquisition of assets derived from the illicit proceeds.

‎Following the convictions, authorities are expected to pursue the forfeiture of properties and other assets allegedly acquired using the stolen funds as part of efforts to recover proceeds of the crime and ensure that crime did not pay.
