ZRA RECOVERS MORE THAN K21.6 MILLION IN REVENUEIN AMFUBE INVESTMENT LIMITED TAX EVASION SCHEME

The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has recovered more than K21.6 million in revenue following the conviction of Amfube Investment Limited for tax evasion by the Economic and Financial Crimes Court in Luanshya.

ZRA Corporate Communications Manager Oliver Nzala said the recovery was made after the Authority instituted criminal proceedings against Amfube Investment Limited for allegedly providing false returns and statements, contrary to the provisions of the Value Added Tax Act.
Mr Nzala said evidence before the court showed that between October 1, 2021, and September 30, 2023, the company, acting with others unknown, submitted false information to ZRA claiming it had received taxable supplies from various companies.
He has added that the company also failed to submit an income tax return for the 2023 charge year, resulting in a loss of government revenue through unpaid Value Added Tax and Income Tax amounting to more than K21.6 million.
Mr Nzala said when the matter came up for plea agreement on June 23, 2026, before Dr Samson Mumba sitting in the Economic and Financial Crimes Court in Luanshya, the accused pleaded guilty to 10 counts of furnishing false returns and statements contrary to the laws of Zambia.
