LUSAKA - Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha has called for enhanced preparedness ahead of the August 2026 General Elections, warning that the Attorney General's Chambers is likely to face a significant increase in election petitions.
Mr. Kabesha said the anticipated rise in election-related cases is largely due to the increased number of constituencies, which could result in more disputes requiring legal intervention after the polls.
He stressed the importance of equipping State Advocates with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to effectively manage election petitions at all levels of the judicial process.
According to Mr. Kabesha, thorough preparation is essential to ensure that election disputes are handled efficiently and professionally, helping to uphold the integrity of the electoral process.
