LUSAKA - Government has launched the Zambia Public Service Delivery Toolkit, a new initiative aimed at strengthening accountability, efficiency and performance across the public service.
Speaking during the launch, Secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa said the toolkit will enable government to monitor progress in delivering its key priorities of transforming the economy and improving public service delivery.
Mr. Kangwa said the initiative is designed to ensure that government institutions remain focused on achieving measurable results that improve the welfare of citizens.
He stressed that service delivery is the responsibility of every public servant and warned that ministries will be held accountable if they fail to meet their set targets.
More than 30 Permanent Secretaries received training on the use of the toolkit during the launch held at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA).
Speaking at the same event, Presidential Delivery Unit Head Kusobile Kamwambi expressed confidence that the toolkit would help improve the performance of the civil service.
Meanwhile, NIPA Executive Director Professor Jacob Malungo said the institution is committed to training public officers capable of delivering quality services to citizens.
Professor Malungo added that similar training programmes will be rolled out to more government officers as part of efforts to build a more effective and responsive public service.
