LUSAKA - Eden University has reaffirmed its commitment to developing Zambia's creative industry by highlighting its industry-focused academic programmes during a courtesy visit by renowned Nollywood actor Chief Barr. Kanayo O. Kanayo, MFR, who is in Zambia for the filming of the movie Senzeni.
The veteran Nigerian actor was received by Eden University Chief Operating Officer Zhunga Simbwalanga, accompanied by Acting Head of Corporate Affairs Emmah Banda Muyinda, who conducted a tour of the institution's facilities and learning environment.
During the visit, the delegation discussed the university's commitment to academic excellence, cultural diversity and practical-oriented education.
Mr. Simbwalanga said Eden University has become a multicultural learning institution, with students from more than 24 countries, creating an environment that promotes innovation, collaboration and the exchange of global perspectives.
He added that the university comprises six specialised schools offering programmes designed to meet industry demands by equipping students with practical skills and competencies that enhance employability.
Mr. Simbwalanga also highlighted the university's Film Production programme, which is supported under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Skills Development Initiative.
He explained that the programme is designed to equip aspiring filmmakers with technical, creative and production skills needed to contribute to the growth of Zambia's film and creative industries.
Chief Barr. Kanayo O. Kanayo commended Eden University for its efforts in promoting skills development and supporting the advancement of Zambia's film sector.
He said higher learning institutions have an important role in nurturing creative talent and preparing young filmmakers to compete at both continental and global levels.
The Nollywood actor also thanked the university's management for allowing the Senzeni production team to use some of the institution's facilities during the filming of the movie.
