BRIAN MUNDUBILE DISTANCES NRPUP AND TONSE ALLIANCE FROM KAFWAYA’S WESTERN PROVINCE AIRPORT COMMENT

By Nelson Zulu

National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity -NRPUP- Presidential candidate Brian Mundubile has distanced the party and the Tonse Alliance from remarks made by Alliance Chairperson for Finance, Mutotwe Kafwaya, that Western Province has no need for an International Airport.

Mr. Mundubile, who said he had taken time off the campaign trail to address the matter, has thanked the Barotse Royal Establishment -BRE- for giving the party an opportunity to clarify its position.

He said the BRE’s approach demonstrates the royal leadership’s commitment to the right to be heard and stated that Mr. Kafwaya’s comments reflected personal views and not the position of NRPUP or the Tonse Alliance.

Mr. Mundubile noted that Mr. Kafwaya has since apologized and that a written, unconditional withdrawal of the statement will be issued.

He has further assured the BRE that no member of the alliance will campaign on a platform that seeks to deny development to any part of Zambia, including Barotseland.

Mr. Mundubile has pledged that once elected, his government will work closely with the royal leadership to deliver development to Barotseland in a manner that is uniform, consultative and inclusive.
