Nalumango Questions Tonse Alliance’s Record on Zambia’s Electricity Challenges

LUSAKA - Vice President Mutale Nalumango says the Tonse Alliance cannot credibly campaign on promises to resolve Zambia’s electricity challenges, arguing that some of its leaders failed to address the problem when they were previously in Government.

Speaking in an interview, Mrs. Nalumango said senior Tonse Alliance members, including Brian Mundubile and Makebi Zulu, whom she described as experienced lawyers, did not provide lasting solutions to Zambia’s power challenges during their time in office.

She questioned the alliance’s readiness to govern, saying it has not yet presented a clear and practical manifesto outlining how it intends to address the country’s challenges.

Mrs. Nalumango maintained that political parties seeking public support should present realistic and achievable solutions rather than making campaign promises that are not supported by clear and practical plans.

She said voters deserve to understand how political parties intend to address key national challenges before deciding which leaders to support in the upcoming election.
