SOLWEZI – The Rural Electrification Authority (REA) says it has invested more than K116 million in grid extension projects across North-Western Province between 2023 and 2026, resulting in electricity connections for more than 10,000 households.
Speaking during a stakeholder engagement in Solwezi District, REA Senior Community Development Officer Vijue Moonga said the investment has significantly expanded access to electricity in the province.
Mr. Moonga noted that improved electricity access has continued to transform the lives of many households by supporting economic activities and improving living standards.
He explained that the grid extension projects form part of the Government’s broader strategy to increase access to electricity and accelerate socio-economic development in underserved communities.
According to Mr. Moonga, expanding the national grid remains a key priority in improving access to essential services and creating opportunities for sustainable economic growth across rural Zambia.
The REA continues to implement electrification projects aimed at connecting more homes, public institutions and businesses to the national electricity network.
