WHATEVER HAPPENS, THIS JOURNEY HAS CHANGED ME – MWILA
Independent aspiring Lusaka Mayor Simon Mulenga Mwila says his campaign has been a life-changing experience, teaching him valuable lessons about kindness, resilience, disappointment and hope.
Mwila said the journey had been about more than seeking votes, explaining that it had exposed him to different human experiences and strengthened his character.
“This journey has been about much more than asking for votes. It has taught me about people, kindness, disappointment, hope and resilience,” Mwila stated.
He said some of his strongest supporters were people he had least expected, while others had chosen to support him privately because of the nature of their work, including civil servants.
“Others support me quietly but cannot do so publicly because they are civil servants or because of the nature of their work. I understand and I appreciate them.”
Mwila also acknowledged that some people who had promised to help had not been able to fulfil their commitments, saying he held no bitterness.
“Today, some of those calls go unanswered and some of those messages are left on blue ticks. I don’t say this with bitterness,” Mwila added.
He said he had instead chosen to appreciate everyone who had supported his campaign through prayers, donations, volunteering and encouragement.
“Whatever the outcome of this election, I know I will never be the same person who started this journey.”
