LUNTE - Sub Chief Mutungo of Chewe Ward in Lunte District has endorsed the UPND Alliance, saying the constituency lost a decade of development after former Member of Parliament Felix Mutati left office.
The traditional leader said Lunte experienced significant development during Mr. Mutati's tenure but that progress slowed considerably over the following 10 years despite having another area Member of Parliament.
Speaking when he hosted UPND Alliance parliamentary candidate Katongo Chasaya and council chairperson candidate Christopher Chambanenge, Sub Chief Mutungo said he was encouraged by the community projects Mr. Chasaya had already undertaken before being elected.
He said the aspiring lawmaker and his team had contributed to the construction of classroom blocks, health facilities and bridges in various parts of the constituency.
"I am happy because I have seen people who are already working for the community before being voted into office. That gives us hope that development can return to Lunte," the traditional leader said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Chasaya pledged to continue the development programmes initiated by former MP Felix Mutati if elected in the August 13 General Election.
He said Lunte had lost valuable years of progress but expressed confidence that the constituency could move forward under the UPND Alliance.
Mr. Chasaya appealed to the people of Lunte to support both his parliamentary bid and President Hakainde Hichilema, saying the UPND Alliance remains committed to improving public services, expanding development and creating opportunities for local communities.
