Government Procures 150 More Ambulances to Strengthen Emergency Healthcare

LUSAKA - The Government has procured an additional 150 ambulances to strengthen emergency healthcare services across the country, bringing the total number of newly acquired ambulances to 306 when combined with the 156 ambulances recently procured under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The update was presented to President Hakainde Hichilema by Ministry of Health Permanent Secretary for Technical Services Dr. Kennedy Lishimpi.

Dr. Lishimpi said the additional ambulances are aimed at improving access to emergency medical services and ensuring that no mother loses her life while giving birth due to a lack of transport to health facilities.

The procurement forms part of Government's efforts to strengthen the country's healthcare system and improve emergency response services, particularly in underserved communities.
