LUSAKA - The family of Gwembe Independent parliamentary aspiring candidate Brian Ntundu has expressed concern over his continued detention at Ridgeway Police Station, saying he has been held since Wednesday without being formally charged.
Speaking to Hot FM News, Mr. Ntundu's uncle, Severine Nchimunya, alleged that the former Member of Parliament was detained after refusing to withdraw from the parliamentary race.
Mr. Nchimunya also expressed concern over Mr. Ntundu's health, saying he is diabetic and that his continued detention could put his wellbeing at risk.
He said Mr. Ntundu was transferred from Gwembe to Lusaka, where he remains detained at Ridgeway Police Station.
The family has since called for his release or for due process to be followed.
Meanwhile, efforts to obtain a comment from Police Spokesperson Godfrey Chilabi were unsuccessful by broadcast time.
