LUSAKA - Ministry of Information and Media Permanent Secretary Thabo Kawana has called on Zambians to uphold peace, love and unity as the country prepares for the August 13 General Election.
Mr. Kawana made the call after meeting legendary Zambian musician Mwila Musonda, popularly known as Slapdee, at the Ministry of Information and Media.
He said the engagement with the music icon went beyond the creative industry, as the two discussed the importance of maintaining peace and national unity during the electoral period.
Mr. Kawana said Slapdee used the opportunity to emphasise the need for Zambians to embrace love, peace and unity, noting that the country's diversity remained one of its greatest strengths.
"Elections come and go, but Zambia remains our shared home," Mr. Kawana said.
He said the Ministry fully supported Slapdee's message and urged citizens to ensure that political differences did not undermine the country's peace and unity.
"Let us heed this timely call to keep the peace, embrace love, and stand united," he said.
Mr. Kawana further urged Zambians to maintain peace before, during and after the elections, stressing the importance of preserving Zambia's identity as one nation.
