ECZ Engages Political Parties and International Observers Ahead of 2026 General Election


 LUSAKA - The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has continued engaging political parties, candidates and international observers as part of preparations for the 2026 General Election.

On Friday, August 7, 2026, the Commission met with participating political parties and candidates. It also met with the SADC Election Observer Mission (SEOM) during a courtesy call.

On Saturday, August 8, 2026, the Commission met with international election observers, including representatives from the Great Lakes Region, ECF-SADC, European Union, Commonwealth, SADC Election Observation Mission (EOM), African Union and COMESA.

The engagements form part of the Commission's continued stakeholder consultations ahead of the 2026 General Election.

The meetings provided an opportunity to update stakeholders on the state of preparedness for the elections and provide clarifications on key electoral processes.

The ECZ said the engagements form part of its commitment to ensuring transparency, inclusiveness and effective stakeholder participation in the electoral process.

The Commission said it continues to work closely with political parties, candidates, observers and other electoral stakeholders to facilitate a credible and peaceful 2026 General Election.
