Lusaka Mayoral Aspirant Turns Garbage Collection Into Campaign Opportunity

LUSAKA - Independent Lusaka mayoral candidate Simon Mulenga Mwila says he turned a routine household chore into a campaign opportunity by engaging sanitation workers while taking out his household garbage ahead of the August 13 General Election.

Mr. Mwila said that with both his gardener and house helper away for the long weekend, he took responsibility for taking out the household refuse.

He explained that when the garbage collection truck arrived, he wheeled the bin out to ensure the waste was collected before taking time to interact with the sanitation workers.

During the interaction, Mr. Mwila distributed campaign flyers and appealed to the workers to support his mayoral bid, saying every encounter now presents an opportunity to earn votes.

"Campaign ni campaign," he said.

Mr. Mwila added that with only a few days remaining before the elections, he considers everyone he meets a potential voter.

He also expressed appreciation to the sanitation workers for their role in keeping Lusaka clean, thanking them for the service they provide to the city.
