LUSAKA - TONSE Pamodzi Alliance Presidential Campaign member Muhabi Lungu has expressed confidence in the leadership qualities of alliance presidential candidate Brian Mundubile, saying his professional qualifications, experience and personal character make him well suited to lead Zambia.
Speaking during a live interview on Capital FM 99.7, Lungu said discussions about national leadership should begin with the character of those seeking public office, arguing that governance is about more than policies.
"The most important aspect of governance is the character of the person who leads the government," Lungu said.
He described Mundubile as a highly accomplished professional, noting that he is a chartered accountant and holds a Master's degree in Law.
According to Lungu, these qualifications demonstrate discipline, intelligence and analytical ability, making it inaccurate to portray the opposition leader as lacking competence.
"Brian Mundubile is a chartered accountant and also holds a Master's degree in Law. These credentials demonstrate that he is highly accomplished academically and professionally," he said.
Lungu further argued that Mundubile's rise through various leadership positions reflects the confidence many people have in his abilities.
He noted that the alliance leader has previously served as Chief Whip, Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, and Patriotic Front leader before being adopted as the TONSE Pamodzi Alliance presidential candidate.
"That confidence has not come by accident. It reflects the belief of many experienced and capable people that he possesses the qualities needed to lead this country," Lungu said.
He also defended those supporting Mundubile, saying their backing is based on careful judgment rather than blind loyalty.
"I am certainly not an idiot, and neither are the many accomplished men and women who have chosen to support him. We have all reached the conclusion that Brian Mundubile is a leader with substance, integrity and the ability to govern," he said.
Lungu contrasted Mundubile's leadership style with that of President Hakainde Hichilema, whom he accused of being divisive and unforgiving.
He claimed that Mundubile is more consultative, listens to different viewpoints and is receptive to new ideas.
"Brian Mundubile presents a different leadership style. He is consultative. He listens carefully to colleagues, welcomes different viewpoints and is receptive to new ideas," Lungu said.
He added that a willingness to listen and embrace collective decision-making is one of the most important qualities of an effective national leader.
Lungu concluded by expressing confidence that Mundubile possesses both the professional competence and personal character required to provide the leadership Zambia needs.
