Police Statement on Lisa Mutalu’s Death

PRESS STATEMENT 


SUDDEN DEATH 


August 20, 2026 - The Zambia Police Service, through Chelstone Police Station, received a report of a sudden death involving a 25-year-old female identified as Lisa Mutalu.


The report was received today August 20, 2026, at around 09:30 hours. The incident is reported to have occurred between 03:30 and 04:30 hours at Victoria Hospital in Lusaka.


According to the preliminary report, on August 19, 2026, at around 20:30 hours, the deceased was in the company of two female friends at a named hotel where she served as an ambassador. 


At around 22:30 hours, the three proceeded to another drinking place within Lusaka, where they continued socialising.


Between 02:30 and 03:00 hours on August 20, 2026, the deceased's boyfriend, identified as Caleb Lisa, also known as Andrea, arrived and picked up the three women. He subsequently dropped the two friends in Minestone/Casanova area and remained with the deceased, with whom he was reportedly staying with in  Kalundu area.


It is alleged that upon arrival at their residence, the deceased began vomiting and subsequently became unconscious. Her boyfriend is reported to have contacted a friend, who assisted in taking her to Victoria Hospital, where she was pronounced dead upon arrival.


Police officers processed both the primary and secondary scenes. The body was subsequently deposited at FSG Mortuary before being transferred to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.


No physical injuries have been observed on the body.


An inquiry file has been opened, and investigations into the circumstances surrounding the death are ongoing. 


The Zambia Police Service will provide further information as investigations progress.
