LUSAKA - Patriots for Economic Progress (PeP) founder Sean Enoch Tembo has announced his retirement from active politics with immediate effect, bringing his decade-long political career to an end.
In a statement issued from Liberty House, his residence, on Thursday, August 20, 2026, Mr. Tembo said the decision followed careful reflection and extensive consultations with his family and friends.
Mr. Tembo said his retirement coincides with the 10th anniversary of the founding of PeP.
Although he did not secure elective public office during his political career, Mr. Tembo said he remains proud of his contribution to Zambia's political landscape.
He highlighted PeP's annual Alternative National Budgets and legal cases pursued in the High Court and Constitutional Court as some of the party's key contributions.
Mr. Tembo also expressed gratitude to the friends and acquaintances he made throughout his political career, as well as those who believed in and supported him over the years.
As he transitions to private life, Mr. Tembo said he would continue praying for God's blessings upon Zambia.
