LUSAKA - Oster Chali has urged Zambians to remain vigilant and avoid being drawn into political agitation, misinformation and actions that could create unnecessary tension in the country.
Mr. Chali said Lilly Tembo, Jay Jay Banda, Emmanuel Mwamba and Augustine Mukoka should be held accountable for political messages they put into the public domain.
He warned that inflammatory rhetoric, unverified or sensational information, and the death of an opposition leader could be exploited to stir public anger and create tension.
Mr. Chali urged citizens to refuse to be drawn into civil unrest or attempts to destabilise the country.
He said political disagreements are normal in a democracy but should be addressed through constitutional and democratic processes rather than misinformation, incitement or mobilisation of citizens against one another.
Mr. Chali further stated that changes in government should be pursued through lawful democratic processes.
He called for peace, unity and responsible political leadership, urging members of the public to question sensational claims, verify information before sharing it and avoid allowing political emotions to divide the country.
