ZEHEST Urges President Hichilema to Set Up Youth Desk at State House

LUSAKA - The Zambian Empowerment Hub for Entrepreneurship and Skills Training (ZEHEST) has called on President Hakainde Hichilema to establish a dedicated Youth Desk at State House.

ZEHEST Executive Director Clarence Muzyamba said Zambia is a young nation, with more than 60 percent of the population comprising young people.

Mr. Muzyamba said young people need a direct and structured channel to the highest office in the country to ensure their concerns and priorities are effectively addressed.

He proposed that the Youth Desk should coordinate the Youth Empowerment Fund and other youth programmes to promote transparency, accountability and easier access to government support.

Mr. Muzyamba further suggested that the desk be headed by a Special Assistant to the President on Youth Affairs and supported by young professionals with experience in entrepreneurship, skills training, governance and civic engagement.
