LUSAKA - Former Mines and Mineral Development Minister Paul Kabuswe has denied reports that he has been arrested in connection with the alleged theft of copper cathodes on the Copperbelt.
Speaking to ZNBC News in Lusaka, Mr. Kabuswe described the reports as malicious and unfounded.
He said individuals linking him to the alleged copper cathodes theft were deliberately attempting to undermine his political campaign and distract him from the UPND's campaign activities on the Copperbelt.
Mr. Kabuswe claimed that rival political parties were increasingly feeling the impact of the UPND's presence on the Copperbelt and were therefore resorting to what he described as false allegations.
He urged voters in Chililabombwe Constituency to support him in the August 13, 2026 General Election.
Mr. Kabuswe's comments come amid ongoing investigations into the alleged theft and unlawful handling of copper cathodes in Mufulira, in which several individuals have been arrested and charged.
