LUSAKA - Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha says the Judiciary is a powerful and independent institution that should not be perceived as being controlled by any other arm of Government.
Speaking to Hot FM News, Mr. Kabesha said the Judiciary makes its own independent decisions and remains accountable to the people of Zambia.
He said the courts have the authority to adjudicate matters involving other arms of Government, adding that people with grievances against any institution or arm of Government can seek redress through the Judiciary.
Mr. Kabesha said it was therefore important to recognise the Judiciary's independence and its constitutional role in resolving disputes.
He further said it was unfortunate that many people who find themselves in conflict with the law are politically inclined, often resulting in claims that they are being politically targeted.
